I don’t know how many people will be surprised by this post, so I won’t do the whole surprised by this post thing.
Anyway, I thought I should let you guys know what’s happening in my life currently, and what the reason for me missing uploads it. You deserve to know.
First and foremost, I am terribly and absolutely sorry that I missed reviews. I try my best to be constant and on time with my reviews. I know I’m not writing a whole lot, which means I should have more time to write, but some stuff has been going on in my life that caused a strong tilt. That stuff is college.
Now, it’s not like it’s my first time in college, I am after-all a sophomore (200l, second year, whatever you call it). It’s just that there’s been some changes since I was last in school that have made resuming quite strenuous.
The first being the fact that my laptop was recently stolen. Not recently by any means, just stolen. It happened on the 28th of February this year. And while that didn’t really affect my uploads while I was at home, it does in school. You would think that being in an environment saturated with students meant access to laptops and computers and internet. It doesn’t. More often than not, I have only one source, and more often than not, said source also needs his personal device.
As I mentioned earlier, that hasn’t been a real roadblock since if you look at the dates on my posts, it’s easy to realize that I started posting book reviews after the incident. I was doing it all on my phone. Reading, reviewing, writing; it all happened on my phone. And while that’s really easy when you’re usually home alone all day with nothing to do except read books, it’s not as easy when you’re waking up 5:30 every morning to get to school on time, taking classes till 6 P.M and then figuring out dinner and your sleep situation.
This is not me complaining by any means. I am glad and grateful that I even have the opportunity to attend college and be studying a program that I’m actually interested in. I know how privileged I am. This is me sharing my life with you. Because as interesting as writing book reviews for you guys is, my life is way more interesting. I think. What with all the craziness in my head.
One other thing that has been a massive obstacle in my reviewing race, is that I really haven’t been able to connect with books lately. I don’t know why, but I haven’t picked up a book in a while. Anytime I do, there’s always some interruption or obstruction that has me switching between tasks and as you guys know, that doesn’t quite work with reading.
I think what I need is a safe space that I go undisturbed without the weight of assignments and projects burning down my chest. Or phone calls from people wanting to know whether or not I’ve returned their thumb drives. I’m really living the life out here.
I don’t know if there’s a takeaway from this, please point me to it if you find one, but I thought I’d give you guys an update on my life and what’s going on and why I may or may not miss updates for a while. P.S. I have started ACOFAS, and it’ll probably take me a while to get back into the Sarah Maas groove, but a review is coming. It just might not be soon.
Also, if you have read War Storm *breathes heavily* I can’t even complete the sentence lmao. But I should be reading that book sometime soon. I mean, I really want to read it. Like really really. I also got Aru Shah and the End of Time today. Yeah. Maybe a review in the future.
Anyways, if you guys like this format, do tell. I’m looking at implementing new types of content on the blog, not just book reviews. This “notably” series seems like a good one. I already named it episode 01. I mean, you say the EP, right. Lol, no, it’s not an album thing.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post, I mean, 700+ words born of my mind seems like a chunk. You’re well on your way to becoming an avid reader. jk. Thank you for reading this post, and I hope you read more posts before you leave, there’s some suggested stuff below this post, or in the sidebar. See you next time. You’re not seeing me, so, read you next time? No. We’ve gotta do something about that. Let me know your ideas in the comments. Cool? Alright. Bye!
